Chennai, April 04, 2017: Chef. M.S. RajMohan, Director – Department of Hotel Management & Catering Science of Mary Matha College of Arts and Science, Periyakulam, Tamil Nadu is conferred the ‘Honoris Causa’, an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Record Breaking from UK based World Records University for his outstanding contribution to the field of Culinary and Hotel Management Education. This degree is conferred upon him by Prof. Thomas Richard William Bains, Vice Chancellor of World Records University in a convocation ceremony held on 5th March 2017 at Faridabad, India. He submitted his thesis entitled “Longest Solo Cooking Marathon – A study on Endurance record Challenge” to World Records University which provides the complete insight about his record attempt “Longest Solo Cooking Marathon” in sixteen different categories which one would be the guide for the people who wish to attempt such record in future. This thesis preparation took one year of time for me to endorse the authentic information in relate to the given categories. This award of honorary doctorate degree is the ultimate honour in record breaking. Currently he is also pursuing the Doctorate studies at Madurai Kamaraj University on Food & Culture for Tourism promotion in India.
Dr.Chef M.S.RajMohan has achieved the World Record title on Longest Solo Cooking Marathon in 19, December, 2015 and 21, December, 2015 at Poppys Hotel, Madurai. He cooked for 48 hours and dished out 1204 recipes for this record challenge. This record was entered into Limca Book of Records, India Book of Records, Asia Book of Records and USA based organisation RecordSetter.
He prepared 1204 dishes including 257 Non-Vegetarian dishes and 947 vegetarian dishes in the time duration of 48 hours. The total weight of the cooked dishes was 307 kg with 285 kg of vegetables, 34 kg of meat, chicken, seafood in total, ten liters of milk, 20 kg of cooking oil, 22 kg of rice, 3 kg of fruits, 3 kg of ghee, 2 kg of butter, 300 eggs in numbers and five commercial cylinders were used for the cooking.
This record event was the eye opener for the public to know the variety of vegetarian preparation with the locally available ingredients. This record attempt highlighted the chef profession and provided the progressiveness in Hotel Management & Catering studies. This record also motivates many of the chefs to attempt culinary records.
