Bengaluru, December 23, 2019: World Trade Center Bengaluru (WTC), the epicentre of International Trade, which also provides a platform for people to educate and create awareness around various industrial and CSR initiatives, recently held a seminar to celebrate International Day for Disabled Persons. The seminar was organized in association with Brigade Hospitality and The Association of People with Disability (APD) at the WTC Bengaluru. The seminar was scheduled to sensitise both employers and employees on the opportunities that are there to realise one’s potential by indulging in ideas and platforms for an inclusive future.
‘Empowerment through Inclusion’ being the topic of discussion saw participation from various sectors who actively participated to understand the possibility of having people with special needs as part of the workforce. Earlier this year, Brigade Hospitality trained around 14 candidates who came through APD from which, 7 of them were recruited at various properties of Brigade Hospitality. On the other hand, APD has various institutional and community-based services to provide early intervention, Education, Medical Rehabilitation, Training and Employment opportunities. This in turn will help disabled persons from both rural and urban areas realize their potential and become self-reliant.
The seminar also witnessed a team of specially-abled individuals showcasing their skill set, who also engaged with the participants in making them aware of their requirements as well as how well they manage their day to day activities. The session saw well-known personalities such as KGY Narayan, Advisory Board Member Livelihood and Basavaraj Samshi N, Senior Programme Manager Livelihood who spoke at length on the current scenario and how joining hands with many other sectors and industries like the one with Brigade Hospitality will nurture the growth of people for a better and secure tomorrow.
