Veeba presents Asian Hawkers Market – IV

Select Citywalk, Saket

10th, 11th & 12th February 2017

More than being yet another food fest, the upcoming fourth edition of the Asian Hawkers Market promises to be a multi-sensory event at Delhi-NCR’s busiest shopping and dining destination

New Delhi, January 29, 2017: India’s largest and Delhi’s favourite Asian food festival – the Asian Hawkers Market presented by Veeba – is all set to return to Select Citywalk, Saket, for its fourth edition on February 10-12, 2017, with an eclectic bag of new restaurants and exciting new highlights:

* an hourly raffle on all three days of the event;

* an Asian-themed flea market;

* daily performances by a b-boy dance crew; and

* a competition that will get Delhi-NCR’s most talented bartenders shaking and stirring.

Veeba, the Market’s sponsor for the third season in a row, is leading the way with plans to make the pre-Valentine’s Day weekend, literally, saucy by unveiling its new range of 19 new products, including six new kinds of mayonnaise, Italian sauces, cheese dips and salsa. “The Asian Hawkers Market is just the right venue to launch new products and gauge how end consumers react to them,” says Viraj Bahl, Founder and Managing Director, Veeba Food Services Pvt. Ltd.

Visitors will get to savour treats laid out by a slew of new partners, including Hahn’s Kitchen, the Korean restaurant from Lite Bite Foods coming up at the fashionable Horizon Centre Courtyard in Gurgaon, which will make its debut at the Asian Hawkers Market-IV. Another new attraction will be Riyaaz Amlani’s Social, which will present a Singaporean menu it has never showcased before. Says Amlani, who operates 16 outlets of Social across the country, besides being the President, National Restaurant Association of India: “We will soon be launching a menu named ‘Singapur’ in our Social outlets. It will consist essentially of dishes we fell in love with on a recent visit to Singapore.”

Another new entrant is LIONFRESH, an online marketplace that specialises in home deliveries of top-grade meats, meat products and seafood processed with the world’s best machinery imported from Germany and Britain. Says Paul Fayman, Director of Primo Foods, the company managing the Lionfresh brand, “LIONFRESH, the best producer of cured meats in the country, looks forward to the Asian Hawkers Market, which is the perfect platform for bringing food lovers, consumers and the best of producers together.” LIONFRESH is the co-sponsor of the event.

The Market’s new partners to watch out for are Ziu, Gurmehar Sethi’s Progressive Thai restaurant at the Sangam Courtyard; Twist, the Cyber Hub, Gurgaon, restaurant that serves Chinese food in individual plated portions; Rachit Goil and Sahil Mehta’s Cravity from Hauz Khas, whose khaosuey has acquired quite a fan following, although it opened only a couple of months ago; Asia Alive, the pan-Asian restaurant of the Double Tree by Hilton, Sector-56, Gurgaon; Flying Tuk Tuk from Sohna Road, Gurgaon, famous for its Otak Otak (steamed fish or seafood cakes wrapped in banana leaves); and Taksim, the chic new restaurant that has become synonymous (after Jom Jom Malay, whose launch was announced at the previous Asian Hawkers Market) with Ansal Plaza’s turnaround as the new food hub.

“The Asian Hawkers Market is like an aged wine — the older it gets, the better it becomes, even as people nurse the hangover of the previous season,” says Sethi. “And with Ziu being added to the restaurant line-up, I am sure the Market will attract a new lot of visitors interested in checking out an ‘Innovative Thai Experience’. Adds Mehta of Cravity: “It’s a pleasure to be a part of one of the most well-curated and well-planned food events, and to share space with some of the best talent of the country.”

Also worth your time and taste buds are newbies such as Live Wok from Gurgaon; Asia Central from Shahpur Jat; The Farm Food Company, the makers of preservative-free pesto, hummus, tzatziki, dips and sauces (these will be presented with an Asian twist); and the fast-growing home delivery service, FreshMenu. The Market will also see the return of The Bento Cafe, the mix-and-match-your-meal eatery from concept restaurant creators Ashish Kapur and Joy Singh at the DLF Mall of India.

Comments Kapur, who’s also well-known for his other popular restaurants, The Wine Company and Antares in Goa: “The Asian Hawkers Market is the only food event I look forward to as a pan-Asian restaurant owner and consumer. The sheer breadth of world-class cuisine accessible in a hip setting is amazing.”

The old favourites returning to the Market include Asia 7, Benihana, Bercos, Bombaykery, Burma Burma, Chai Point, Chi, Dimcha, Latest Recipe (Le Meridien, Gurgaon), Ping’s Cafe Orient, Wai Wai, Wok Tok (The Grand Vasant Kunj) and Wow Momo. And what else will be old at the Asian Hawkers Market-IV. Starting with the vast space, plenty of parking and free entry, a Hong Kong night market look and feel, and live music, the prices will be pocket friendly, the menu of each restaurant will be well-curated and the portions will be such that the visitors will be able to sample food from as many of our partners as possible.

And of course, the re-imagined bar will be yet another highlight to look out for, featuring top mixologists stirring up cocktails and mocktails, the perfect palate cleansers between meals. The perfect convergence of food and culture, Asian Hawkers Market-IV is the only date you should be on this Valentine’s Day weekend.
