New Delhi, July 20, 2021: The travel restrictions that began in 2020 due to the pandemic has facilitated a new trend of staycations and workations. After months of being cooped up inside homes, people have decided to break the monotony and hit the road. The newly coined term for this is ‘Revenge travel’. While establishments are receiving bookings from the 100% vacationer segment, they are also witnessing a marked increase in booking for staycations and workations.

Across Bangalore there has been a mix of bookings from young solo travellers, groups of friends as well as from families. With the new trend of work from home in place, couples too are wanting a change from the routine. They get to work peacefully and use the free time to unwind without having to worry about taking care of the household chores. With different states starting the unlock procedure and beginning to ease Covid restrictions there is a significant increase in bookings this year as compared to last year. The increased momentum of the vaccination drive and reduction in cases is expected to catalyse domestic travel recovery over the next two quarters. All necessary safety measures are being followed diligently to ensure that revival of the industry is speeded up.

Right from check-in to sanitizing the rooms to service protocols, top establishments have not let their guard down regarding covid protocols. Digitization and contactless services is the new mantra for the safety of guests and staff. Traditional customer-facing services are being relooked at, with technology-assisted options, such as mobile check-in, contactless payments, voice control and biometrics taking the lead. Be it a workation, staycation or drivecation, people are eager to travel and make up for the lost time.
