Bangkok, April 21, 2018: Top Asian food processing and retail conglomerate, Thailand’s Charoen Pokphand Group, is keen to invest in food processing in Uttarakhand, Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat told UNI here on Wednesday.
On the sidelines of a seminar to promote trade, investment and tourism opportunities for Thai businesses in Uttarakhand, Mr Rawat said,”We have invited them for an investors’ meet in Dehradun in October.”
Mr Rawat added,”I have also requested them personally.”
Better known by its acronym, CP, Thailand’s largest private company runs the ubiquitous 7-11 brand 24-hour convenience store chain in the southeastern Asian nation. It is the leading agribusiness and food processing operator in Southeast and East Asia with investments in over 30 countries.
The chief minister and his official delegation held meetings yesterday with leading Thai businesses who expressed interest in food processing, ayurveda products and tourism.
Thai businesses are “deeply interested in Ayurveda”, the chief minister said. Uttarakhand has more than 200 varieties of medicinal plants and a plentitude of space for their cultivation in which local farmers can be engaged, he pointed out. The state’s growers, Mr Rawat added, produce 600 tonnes of aromatic oil every year.
