Hyderabad, December 25, 2019:  Watch out for that…Tree!!! In the spirit of the season, The Westin Hyderabad Mindspace has unveiled a glorious Christmas Tree that towers approximately 36 feet tall! The magnanimous triangle is not only the tallest in the city, but also the most sustainable by far.

Planning and preparations that encompassed 30 days, combined with the dedication and hard work of a team of 30 associates at The Westin Hyderabad Mindspace ultimately came to a grand fruition at a fun-filled and delightful tree lighting ceremony. It took a team comprising of our chefs led by Chef Mahesh Padala, Executive Chef at The Westin Hyderabad Mindspace, along with the assistance of the enthusiastic engineering department, who worked for over 168 hours and 7 days non-stop, to craft this delicious edible treat which is extravagantly filled with 300 kgs of chocolate and 250kgs of edible sugar art!

On approach, the hotel’s glittering lobby of twinkling lights and its “talk of the town” Christmas Tree reflects the spirt of the season filled with unbridled luxury and joy. But as one draws nearer the sheer art and attention to detail astounds every onlooker.

For centuries, Christmas tree decorations weren’t passed down from Grandma or glued together in art class. Instead, trees and ornaments were tasty snacks like nuts, shaped cookies (stars, angels, baubles), popcorn, candies, and fruit.  While the occasional cookie or candy cane still make it onto the boughs these days, it’s a far cry from the times when nearly all ornaments were edible treats. The endeavour on the hotel’s part, is welcoming in an environment which veers towards more eco- friendly Christmas decorations options. On a larger scale it reflects the values of parent company Marriott International; who’s commitment towards a more sustainable planet are credible and real.

Parag Sawhney, General Manager at The Westin Hyderabad Mindspace said, “This is a heartwarming result of unity and collaboration of all the departments of our hotel. I stand proud to witness the team’s efforts and the tree itself is absolutely bespoke in craftmanship and beauty. We hope to undertake many more sustainable and fun activities and involve our guests and communities in environmentally friendly themes while leading into the celebrations for our hotel’s 10th anniversary.”

The largest edible Christmas tree is also decked with a ton of Christmas goodies that one can also choose to buy and gift. From fruit-filled Christmas cakes, plum puddings and cookies; its a wonderful time to visit with family, friends and indulge in the delectable festive treats.
