South Indian premium restaurants have a lot of potential post-pandemic: Mr. Vikram Kamat

Mumbai, November 08, 2022: Being in the hospitality business for decades, Kamats have been one of the most preferred restaurant chains in Maharashtra and Gujrat. While functioning in the QSR module, the VITS Kamat recently rolled out their first premium dining restaurant ‘Kamat’s Legacy’ which was conceived before the global pandemic. Initially, the group did their pilot testing in Thane and launched their first model restaurant in Bhandup running at full capacity.

In a recent interview, Mr. Vikram Kamat, the chairman of the VITS Kamat group mentioned, “We have some really awesome items on the menu which you cannot get on a regular Kamat Menu.” Kamat’s Legacy targets to bring into the cities the culture and authenticity of south India with maintaining a proper synergy between the scrumptious food and the ambiance of the restaurant.

When asked about where he sees Kamat’s Legacy in the near future, he added saying “I see a potential for at least 20 Kamat Legacy outlets in the Mumbai metropolitan region. Cities like Pune can have another 10, Surat 2 or 3, and Ahmedabad 4 to 5.” While Kamats have already cracked the mantra to excel in QSR based restaurant model, entering premium dining will be a journey worth watching.
