Wego provides tips to help travelers reorganize their travel plans

New Delhi, August 12, 2020: Wego, one of the leading online travel marketplaces in the Asia Pacific, INSUB and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), offers tips for travelers to better plan their holidays during COVID-19.

First, Wego advises travelers to check the airline cancellation policy. The majority of airlines are waiving cancellation fees and offering refunds and flexible change fees for flights affected by the COVID-19. Some airlines provide money refunds, while others provide refunds in the form of “travel credit” or a voucher that can be used for future travel. The validity period may vary, with some extending to 2021. Make sure you take advantage of travel credit for a post-pandemic holiday.

Much like the airlines, hotels are also providing flexibility for guests to change the date of stay. Most hotels offer flexible reschedule and cancellation policies at no extra fee up to 24 hours before the check-in date. Alternative accommodation operators, on the other hand, apply a full refund policy for guests.

Bernard Corraya, General Manager, INSUB, Wego, said: “Hotels and airlines have been attempting to mitigate lowering the rates and putting new measures in place to revive the hotel industry amid the coronavirus outbreak. We have put together a list of tips and recommendations to help travelers reorganize their travel plans during these uncertain times.”

We urge travelers to check their health and travel insurance benefits. The Insurance Regulatory And Development Authority of India (IRDAI) allowed the COVID Kavach policy as an updated program to be sold as Health Insurances. If you don’t currently own any insurance plan, now would be the perfect time to purchase one. Please also assess travel insurance products for optimum protection on your future travels.

Unfortunately, the COVID-19 means no social events until further notice. Keep yourself busy with productive activities, such as trying out new home-cooking recipes, learning a new language, attending webinars on your favorite topics, or doing a home workout. By the end of the lockdown, you will find a sizable sum ready to be allocated into your travel budget.

Last but not the least, postpone that trip, don’t cancel. You can still travel post the pandemic and as more travel restrictions are eased. To save the tourism industry, choose postponement over the cancellation. This also serves as a reminder that there will be light at the end of this tunnel.

Don’t forget to use metasearch engines when booking your next trip. Wego brings the flights and hotels’ offerings to its users to help them get the best rates and deals from hundreds of hotels and flight operators. We are all in this together.
