“Entrepreneurs- the change agents for hospitality”
New Delhi, February 06, 2020: The Maharashtra State Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology had organized its Annual State Level Seminar on 31st January 2020 in the Institute. It was a day long event, which comprised of sessions by eminent entrepreneurs from the hospitality industry in the morning, followed by a Panel Discussion in the afternoon.
The Inaugural function took place in the presence of Mr. Vikram Kamat- author, Entrepreneur and the founder of the VITS group, who was the Chief Guest, Mr. Kishor Sarpotdar, of Sarpotdar Caterers who was the Guest of Honour and Dr. Anita Moodliar, the Principal of the Institute, who welcomed the dignitaries on the dais.
The morning session had inspiring talks by Chef Siddharth Mahadik of the famous Le Plaisir restaurant, who spoke on his journey from being an engineer to a Chef. The mantra he shared was ‘do believe in yourself’. Mr Rajendra Aragade of De Asra Foundation addressed the audience on the technical know- how required, and the process of beginning start- ups. Later on, Mr. Pravin Kanago of Kanvin Hospitality spoke on the present scenario of start-ups in the hospitality industry. He discussed about the impact of new trends and social media on the business. He elaborated on the new class of entrepreneurs who pool in their resources to share not only profits but risks as well. Mr Vikram Kamat spoke on his individual career growth apart from the famous Kamat legacy and seven behavioural habits that he wished should be inculcated in an entrepreneur.
The session was received very enthusiastically by the youngsters sitting in the audience with Start-ups being the buzz-word for today’s youth. The morning session concluded with audience interaction and a question and answer session with the speakers.
The Afternoon session had an extremely interesting Panel discussion. Creatively titled ‘Start-up pe Charcha’ the Panelists were the young alumni of the Institute itself, who are today extremely successful entrepreneurs in their own right, who spoke about the challenges faced by them in beginning their own start-ups, which was followed by a question and answer session. Ms. Pranali Kanade – of Juggernaut Hospitality Services, who is into Corporate Catering, Mr. Sachin Bhamare of the award-winning Wood Fire Grill Restaurant in Pune, Mr. Abhijeet Titkare- of Fizzlebuzz, Foods, Ms. Amrita Advani- of Coco Patisserie and Ms. Mariya Kagalwala of Chocollicious were the speakers. This session was anchored very competently by yet another alumnus Ms. Anahita Manna who herself is a budding entrepreneur!!
There were participants from the Hospitality Industry, the academia as well as students from other Institutes, who made this event a grand success. The Principal hopes that this seminar will inspire students to be potential entrepreneurs of tomorrow.
