New Delhi, May 20, 2016: New Delhi’s colonial heart, Connaught Place has seen resurgence in recent time with a spate of options for dinners and shoppers alike spread across its iconic radial roads and arches. As the world’s fourth most expensive retail destination, Delhi’s most famous business and shopping district now gets its very first lifestyle destination – The Colonnade. Located within a unique catchment area that plays hosts to an eclectic footfall across tourists, business travellers, students from across four corners of the city, The Colonnade aims to eventually create a one stop destination offering the best of fashion, retail and dining experiences.
The Colonnade is being developed in two stages starting with an F&B concept space spread over 25,000 sq. ft which witnessed the launch of some of the best casual dining and easy dining options in the city. Already on board are an array of quick and casual dining options including Burger King, Punjabi by Nature, Keventers, Wanchai by Kylin, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Pita Pit and Fat Lulu’s, to name a few, within an ambience that pays tribute to the rich nostalgia of its historic location.
Separately, The Colonnade also sees some of the most exciting casual dining offerings of the city including The Permit Room, an all-new Mediterranean sports bar by the team behind Raasta; Pan-Asian treats by Mamagoto; the best brews at The Beer Cafe and an eclectic culinary experience at Café Delhi Heights. Whether it is business meetings, an evening with a special someone or a hangout spot with friends, The Colonnade welcomes all.
The Colonnade represents a new trend in mall retail as specialised hubs in smaller formats are taking centre stage. While malls and high-streets have been traditional locations for F&B outlets, a new breed of food-centric destinations is emerging keeping in view changing lifestyles and expectations of Indian consumers. The trend of food hubs especially in Delhi-NCR, additionally helps restaurants create specialised concepts with greater focus on the dining experience.
· F&B is one of the fastest growing segment in organized retail as dining out grows as a trend.
· India’s quick service restaurant industry is currently pegged at around INR 6000 crore and is expected to grow 26% each year.
Commenting on the launch, Mr. Manav Deep Singh, Director, The Colonnade, said, “We wanted to give the people of Delhi a lifestyle experience like never before and there could have been a no better place than Connaught Place. A lot for renowned brands have been trying to enter Connaught Place for a while and they have been unsuccessful because of either high real estate costs or because of unavailability of space. The Colonnade is now a destination where we have created a mix of unique sought after restaurant brands and would also be doing the same with retail and more dining options in phase two. We aspire to create the ultimate lifestyle destination with live music, shopping, events, great food and a whole lot of fun activities around the year keeping in mind the heritage and history of its location.”
The second phase of development scheduled for later will further see select food and retail brands, come on board across an additional 30,000 sq. ft. for the ultimate shopping experience offering the best brands across occasions.
