Bengaluru, August 17, 2016: Shangri-La Hotel, Bengaluru today played host to the city’s longest celebratory affair as India observed its 70th Independence Day. From organizing the longest brunch to transforming the Lobby Lounge into a huge plate where an exquisite masterpiece creation – a 70 feet cake was displayed, the city witnessed many firsts at the hotel.
The children from Angel’s Orphanage were in for an unparalleled Shangri-La experience today as they joined the Shangri-La Bengaluru team for the Independence Day celebrations. The day began with the cutting of the humungous 70ft. long cake which was created to commemorate the 70th Independence Day celebrations. The children were then taken for a special movie screening and Independence luncheon with the hotel team members. The special tricolour cake was the give-away for these children who had a memorable afternoon at Shangri-La Bengaluru.
The real value of independence is in giving joy to the underprivileged. Shangri-La hotel, Bengaluru in association with Vasanthanagar Residents Welfare Association (VRWA) organized a full day children’s outing at Bal Bhawan, Cubbon Park on the occasion of India’s 70th Independence Day celebrations. There were a galore of activities planned for the children ranging from painting, clay moulding, paper craft making & also a ride in the toy train encircling the periphery of Cubbon Park. Volunteers from Shangri-La Bengaluru were at the venue assisting the 150 children with all their requirements. A dental screening and a medical check-up camp had also been organized at the venue. The day concluded on a joyous note as the volunteers distributed the happiness bag which contained goodies like compass box, stationery, toiletries, chocolates, biscuits and other eatables sponsored by Shangri-La hotel, Bengaluru.
There was a great buzz of enthusiasm amongst guests as Shangri-La Hotel, Bengaluru treated them to an ensemble of priviledges and activities. While the all-day-dining venue, b Cafe served delicacies and beverages from a specially curated menu that included many tricoloured themed treats, the Lobby Lounge was a spectacle with the 70 feet cake on display that pulsated the celebratory mood.
In line with their worldwide vision and mission, Shangri-La Hotel, Bengaluru engaged in community service by donating the proceeds from the sale of the cake to IKSHA Foundation that works for the welfare of children suffering from eye cancer.
