The 10-year-old hospitality start-up will act as the strategic growth engine for Accor’s ‘Ibis’ and ‘Mercure’ brands in India, leveraging its tech-driven hotel platform, nationwide reach, and distribution strengths
Bengaluru, April 09, 2025: Treebo Hospitality Ventures (THV), India’s leading tech-enabled hotel chain with a portfolio of 800 hotels across 120 cities, today announced a partnership with global hospitality leader Accor and India’s travel and aviation powerhouse InterGlobe Enterprises. Under this alliance, Treebo will take on the role of driving the growth of Accor’s Ibis and Mercure brands in India, as part of a master license agreement. Treebo has already entered into an understanding with asset owners for launching 10 new Mercure hotels representing 700+ keys, marking a significant milestone in the brand’s expansion in India. These properties are located across high-potential metros and tier 2/3 cities including Bangalore, Siliguri, Calicut, Mysore, Alwar, and Haridwar—regions that represent a significant growth opportunity in India’s evolving hospitality landscape. Accor and InterGlobe will also invest in THV thus becoming the largest minority shareholder in the company.
This strategic partnership has been announced today as part of Accor and InterGlobe’s reveal of their ambitious India strategy. The two companies will bring together their currently owned assets, development and management businesses in the country to form one autonomous, integrated platform. This new entity will become the exclusive vehicle for growing all Accor brands in India, including luxury and lifestyle brands from Ennismore, Accor’s fast-growing hospitality portfolio. Their collaboration with Treebo will support the new entity’s —expansion in the mid-market segment through a tech-enabled, distribution-strong platform.
India’s hotel sector is undergoing a transformation, driven by rising consumer expectations, growing domestic travel, and a shift toward branded, tech-enabled accommodation. Treebo’s proven success in the budget and mid-scale segments, supported by proprietary technology and an asset-light approach, makes it an ideal partner to drive Accor’s Ibis and Mercure brands’ ambitions in India.
EXPANDING THE MID-MARKET SEGMENT THROUGH A DUAL-BRAND STRATEGY
THV has recently launched its own mid-market brand, Medalio, designed for smaller premium properties under 50 keys, catering to aspirational travellers seeking elevated experiences in a compact format. The new partnership with Accor for Ibis and Mercure brands complements the Medalio strategy and will focus on larger hotels in the 50-125 keys range.
