Kolkata, March 19, 2025: YAYAvar at Hyatt Centric Ballygunge Kolkata proudly presents the Rural Bangla Food Festival, a weeklong culinary journey from March 22nd to March 28th, 2025, celebrating the soul of Bengal’s rustic kitchens. From the heart of Rural Bangla to your plate, this festival brings an authentic taste of tradition, offering flavors that have been passed down through generations. Curated by Chef Sougata Halder, a passionate culinary talent from Murshidabad, the event reflects his deep-rooted love for traditional Bengali cuisine and his unwavering commitment to preserving the essence of Bengal’s villages.
Inspired by the timeless flavors of Bengal’s countryside, this festival brings to life forgotten recipes, age-old cooking techniques, and the comforting aromas of traditional rural kitchens. Each dish is crafted with locally sourced ingredients and time-honored methods, ensuring an experience that is as authentic as it is heartwarming.
The specially curated menu, served as a set menu experience and at a dinner buffet counter as well as on their Sunday Brunch, features an exquisite selection of Bengali delicacies. Guests can indulge in a variety of vegetarian delights, including Kolmir Saag, Begun Pora, Posto Bora, Bengali Fried Rice, Lau Ghonto, Bati Chorchori, Shukto and Dhokar Dalna. For those who crave traditional non-vegetarian flavors, the menu also offers Tel Koi, Laal Murgi Jhol, and Posto Bata Mangsho, each infused with the richness of Bengal’s culinary traditions. No Bengali feast is complete without its signature sweets, and the festival presents an indulgent spread of Lancha, Rosogolla, Misti Doi, and Bonde, perfectly complemented by Tomato Chutney, Plastic Chutney, and Papor Bhaja.
Executive Chef Sougata Halder shares, “Rural Bangla cuisine is not just about food, it’s about emotions, nostalgia, and the deep connection we have with our roots. Every dish carries the essence of home-cooked warmth, simple ingredients, and the love that defines Bengali households. Through this festival, I want to take our guests on a journey back to the flavors of their childhood, to the tastes and aromas that make Bengal’s villages so special.”
