Kolkata, December 12, 2023 : Courtyard By Marriott Shillong, celebrated the festive season with its first grand Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony. The event, which took place on 10th December, 2023, marked the beginning of a joyous holiday season.
Patrons were welcomed with open arms and cheerful smiles, setting the perfect tone for the evening. The venue was transformed into a winter wonderland, with sparkling lights, festive decorations, and a magnificent Christmas tree at the center of it all. The tree, adorned with glittering ornaments, stood tall as a symbol of hope and unity for the upcoming holiday season. The event witnessed Shri Conrad Sangma, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Meghalaya, as the chief guest, along with Shri D P Wahlang, Chief Secretary to the Govt. of Meghalaya, Shri Paul Lyngdoh, Tourism Minister and Smti R M Kurbah, Deputy Commissioner East Khasi Hills District.
The climax of the evening was the eagerly awaited tree lighting, where the entire crowd joined in a countdown to illuminate the magnificent Christmas tree. The sight of the tree bathed in a warm, golden glow left everyone in awe and filled hearts with the true essence of the holiday season. The event’s enchanting theme, “Night Under the Stars,” added a touch of magic, inspiring participants to momentarily suspend reality, gaze skyward, and immerse themselves in the enchantment of the season. The ceremony served as a guiding light, beckoning individuals from diverse backgrounds to unite, bask in the holiday glow, and forge enduring memories beneath the celestial expanse of Shillong’s night sky.
The event unfolded as a splendid high tea experience, where various desserts like ‘Plum pudding’, ‘Sugar glazed cinnamon cookies’, ‘Carrot and raisin cake’ , ‘Gingerbread cookies’ were served. Alongside the sweet treats, guests were treated to a delightful spread featuring an array of delectable treats like ‘Gouda Croquette with berry compote’, ‘Beer batter fish with lemon aioli’, ‘BBQ Chicken’, ‘Sautéed Prawns’, ‘Wild mushroom Vol Au Vent’ to name some.
The children were seen meeting Santa Claus, sharing their wishes, and receiving small gifts. The celebration continued with live music performances and a special dance presentation, ensuring a lively and festive atmosphere throughout the evening.
