Mauritius, December 17, 2019: Outrigger Mauritius Beach Resort has appointed Mushahid Khan as specialist Indian Chef.

Mushahid’s main responsibility will be to take the resort’s whole offering of dishes from the sub-continent to a new level.

A native of Mumbai, Mushahid joins Outrigger after being head cook at Abu Dhabi National Hotels and commis and demi chef de partie at Hyatt Regency Mumbai.

He has a Bachelor of Hotel and Tourism Management Studies (1st Class) from the University of Mumbai. In his kitchen career to date, Mushahid has earned employee of the month six times and employee of the year, once.

The Outrigger Mauritius Beach Resort Executive Chef, Guven Uyanik, says that Indian, Pakistani and Sri Lankan dishes are already popular at Mercado restaurant in the resort, along with cuisines from around the world.

“Mushahid has been tasked to really add a ‘wow’ factor to our South Asian and Middle Eastern culinary experiences. Guests are in for a treat,” says Guven.

Vineet Bhatia, the UK-based Indian chef who has earned Michelin star recognition, has been a major inspiration for Mushahid, whose favourite dish to prepare is Butter Chicken, a globally famous curry from the Punjab in north west India.
