Mumbai, October 13, 2014 - The Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) will sign an MoU with Mumbai-based HR College for a three-year degree course on tourism approved by Mumbai University. The signing will take place on October 9 at the KC College auditorium. TAAI will support and assist the college and also help in formulating the curriculum. The course is called Bachelor of Vocation Course in Travel, Tourism & Hospitality.

Jay Bhatia, Chairman of Tourism Council, TAAI said, “We have been in talks with the college for some time now. TAAI is on the college’s advisory board and will assure the students placements across the country at the end of the course. This is the first time that the university has approved a degree course dedicated to tourism.”

The faculty for the course will be from the college itself but will receive visiting faculty from among TAAI members. Bhatia adds, “We have tried to make the course more interactive rather than theoretical. This will include students visiting our offices and attending our workshops as well as roadshows that TAAI is a part of. This will give students a chance to observe, understand and ask questions.”

The course module will include training on soft skills. TAAI will also be inviting the same college faculty to train the frontline staff of its members. CCI Newswire
