Goa December 24, 2013:
Goa, the acclaimed sun, surf and holiday capital of India has another reason to raise a toast, quite literally!

India’s favourite tourist state has now earned the distinction of having the world’s first micro brewery that

does not require ETP (Effluence Treatment Plant).

The HouseBrew brewery set up at north Goa’s party venue at SinQ Beach Club, Candolim, boasts of

providing thirsty merrymakers a selection of over 15 international beer varieties in exquisite flavours.

Hotel Times caught up with Amit Adatia, the SinQ brewer, whose expertise helped set up the unit in Goa

and now has his hands full with various offers from all over the country.

“Our low investment equipment gives a great earning opportunity to investor, which is why the initial

response has been overwhelming from the hospitality industry. While the total cost of setting up the unit,

including the machinery, knowhow and capital investment would approximately be around Rs 40 lakhs,

the return on investment time would be only six months,” the real-estate businessman turned brewer

emphasised.

The technology could come as a boost to entrepreneurs looking for a lucrative investment, taking into

consideration the ease of installation and high returns in a very short period.

In fact Amit has been keen to point out that this technology offers an option to the large emerging Indian

beer drinkers, specially who love it fresh. “All popular beer will be brewed in the HouseBrew system from

a premixed package. These packages will require only the addition of water and the appropriate brewer’s

yeast for the desired style and flavour”, he revealed.

The response in Goa too has been very good and new units will soon be seen in various tourist-spots all

over the tourist state, he underlined.

“The first micro brewery in world does not require large space, huge capital investment or expensive brew

master. Keeping in mind our bag to bag technology we do not require Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP),”

the businessman from Gujarat said on the ease of setting up the unit.

The period between installation and operation is barely seven days, says the Director of Abhijit Impex (I)

Pvt Ltd. “The equipments can be installed in one day and the client can start making beer from second

day. The first batch of 500 litres will be ready in just seven days.”

Close on heels of its success in Goa, he has been inundated with offers for setting up similar units in

other parts of the country. “Right now there are very few states in India that allows micro brewery, but

very soon more states will open up. While we were sure Goa would invite good response, we are now

negotiating for setting up units in Haryana, Maharashtra and Karnataka.”

Asked if beer companies should see this as competition the brew master thought otherwise. “Personally

I don't think that micro brewery is a threat to beer companies, as the two are totally different segment

altogether. Beer sales in India during 2012 was approximately 200 hectolitres (2000 million litre). Again,

compared to beer companies, micro breweries produce very small quantity and target premium clients,

who love freshly brewed beer.”

Throwing some light on the company, he said the technology has been accepted in more than 20 countries

since almost 25 years by, large number of BeerMachine users. We use the same raw material in our micro

brewery called HouseBrew.

Amit said SinQ Brew will serve more than 15 international varieties of beer in exquisite flavours,

including American Ale, Canadian light, Irish Stout, Vienna, Porter to Honey Beer, besides other world

famous options. The price of SinQ home brew is Rs. 200 per glass, and Rs. 750 for a five-glass pitcher,

inclusive of all taxes.

Beer consumption in India, which has recorded the fastest growth in Asia, is expected to catapult a five-
fold leap in the next five years. According to a report India outpaced beer drinking nations like Brazil,

Russia and China by a large margin.

SinQ, which is presently a party place will soon have a hotel, which is now in the final stages of

construction. SinQ Hospitality Group is the hospitality arm of a Goa-based real estate company,

Adwalpalkar Constructions, which has been in business for more than 20 years.
