Bengaluru, January 14, 2016: The Hospitality Purchasing Managers’ Forum (HPMF) – India’s first and lone forum of hospitality purchase managers – celebrated its 5th Anniversary on December 18 and 19, at Hyatt Regency Mumbai.

HPMF’s first ever Convention and Awards was organized especially for the hospitality procurement fraternity. The event was themed “Hum Sab Saath Hai”. Over 175 Hospitality Purchasing Managers from all over India and abroad participated actively in the themed concept at the event, which brought PM’s of different organizations on a single platform.

The two-day event featured several presentations and panel discussions on pressing issues of procurement. There were leading panellists from various fields who graced the occasion. These dignitaries shared their ideas with the participants. Another highlight was the B2B events where the top 30 suppliers of India had face to face meetings with the 175 buyers.

HPMF launched a new logo this year to adopt a global look. The objective behind changing the logo is to involve more international participants as HPMF Members. The new logo is a green globe, which signifies eco friendly awareness, with the map of India prominently visible on the front, showcasing the pride of being an Indian and India First! The globe colour is symbolic of the five elements of nature – fire, water, air, earth and space. The text is in different colours so as to make the logo look joyful and vibrant.

HPMF has also initiated awards for procurement excellence in the hospitality industry. These awards will help the procurement managers’ fraternity to get motivated, which will boost their morale and will result in better performance in their respective organizations. There were various categories of awards, e.g, Emerging Procurement Person of the year, Procurement Person of the year, Female Procurement Person of the year, Best Hospitality Procurement Team, Best Sustainable Development Sensitive Procurement Team and The Living Legend Awards.

Among tthe other highlights of the event was the launch of CHPM (Certified Hospitality Procurement Manager) Certification by American Hotel and Lodging Education Institute! This is the first ever such certification for the procurement fraternity in the world and HPMF members will be the first recipient of this certification.

HPMF introduced the Advisory Board members for the first time to the world, which comprises legendary stalwarts from different organizations across India.

HPMF has more than 960 purchase managers from all over India and abroad as members from the hospitality industry. The overseas members are from Doha, Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

The first day of the event saw the arrival of outstation delegates at Hotel Hyatt Regency Mumbai. A welcome dinner was organized along with some B2B meetings and a presentation by Chef Soundarajan, President, IFCA.

The second day was a big day! The event was chaired by HH Mr Giriraj Singh ji Lotwara who is the President of Shri Rajput Sabha Jaipur – Rajasthan. He gave a fabulous and moving speech, which motivated the audience and set off a roar of applause from the gathered assembly.

Thereafter, Mr. D Sivanandan (Ex Commissioner of Mumbai and Thane Police) gave a presentation on the theme of “Excellence in whatever you do”, which was another hit. The entire audience wanted a photo-op with Mr Sivanandan!

There were several panel discussions and presentations where top delegates from various organizations took part. The second-half of the day was dedicated to B2B Meetings with the participative vendors.

The evening was reserved for entertainment. Several top dignitaries from the Indian Hospitality Industry were in attendance, including the well-known Mr Mir Ranjan Negi. The highlight was a Rudravtar performance put together by the Purchase Managers of different hotels. Bringing the curtains down on the memorable event, Nitin Nagrale presented a slide show, which depicted the forum’s journey and progress over the past year. The event concluded with a spirited rendition of the popular “Mile Sur Mera Tumhara” by several purchasing professionals.
