Announces expansion plans in Middle East, South East Asia and India

Mumbai, Nov 18, 2014 - British budget hotel chain Premier Inn has announced four new properties in India by 2018. The announcement was made at an event at Mumbai where Aly Shariff, Senior Vice President, Operations (Asia) and David Vely, Senior Vice President Development, Premier Inn Middle East, Africa & India addressed the media and spoke about the four properties and expansion plans in Middle East, South east Asia and India. These new developments are proposed in Mumbai, Chennai and Goa. They laid special emphasis on the property in Mumbai, which will be operated under management contract by Premier Inn. The property is owned by the Kamala Group.

Speaking about the Premier Inn Mumbai, which is the group’s second largest property outside of the UK with a capacity of 350 rooms, Shariff said, “We are extremely proud to be a setting up a property in Mumbai. This property is essential to Premier Inn’s growth strategy and fulfils our objective of entering the mid-scale hotel market of Mumbai. We are offering a unique product, which is perfectly designed to host business travellers as well as families. The property is scheduled to open in 2018 and we look forward to welcoming guests to the Premier Inn experience.”

Premier Inn Mumbai will cater to the city’s mid-scale market segment. The hotel, which will be located at Worli, will feature the group’s signature all-day dining restaurant and bar, as well as a fully equipped gymnasium. The property will also feature amenities which include flexible meetings and conferencing facilities, free Wi-Fi access, flat screen TVs and the Hypnos branded bed in all rooms.

Opening new hotels in these three key regions is now part of our long-term strategy to further enhance and develop the Premier Inn brand globally and we are confident it will be well received in new markets by value conscious travellers” said Vely.

Premier Inn Mumbai Worli joins Premier Inn’s growing portfolio of properties worldwide as it plans to have around 50 hotels in India, Southeast Asia and Middle East by 2018. Premier Inn currently operates over 670 hotels globally including five hotels in the Middle East and three in India. In India, the company initially owned and managed all its properties. Premier Inn Mumbai and Premier Inn Chennai will be the group’s first management contracts in the country. The Chennai and Goa properties which will have 171 and 130 rooms respectively will be ready by 2015, said Vely. Apart from these projects, the group is also eyeing other cities in India like Hyderabad, Lucknow, Ahmedabad and Dwarka.

The group’s expansion plans will see them managing around 10,000 new rooms by 2018 in the GCC countries, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and the Middle East across key cities including Mumbai, Chennai, Goa, Bali, Bogor, Jakarta, Makassar, Surabaya and Yogjakarta (Indonesia), Bangkok (Thailand), Dubai and Sharjah (UAE), Muscat (Oman), Doha (Qatar) and Jeddah (Saudi Arabia).
