New Delhi February 6, 2014:- Tourism and Hospitality industry in India is going through a dynamic phase. Changes are being seen in different arena of the tourism activities. Considering the potential and scope of the sector, analysis of the trends and practices along with the exploration of the new ideas can be deliberated best in the research conferences.

Understanding the need and importance Banarsidas Chandiwala Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology, New Delhi, is hosting Fourth India International Hotel Travel and Tourism Research Conference (IIHTTRC) from February 12 to 15, 2014 with objective to bring Industry Managers, Tourism and Hospitality Researchers together to deliberate on the issues related to the travel, tourism and hospitality business.

The IIHTTRC series has established itself as the most prominent International Research Conference in the field of Hotel, Travel and Tourism. The conference shall cover the related fields of the respective industries through application of theory and practices with perspective of education, business, industry, services, humanity, environment and government. Workshops and other industry related forums, along with formal presentations have been scheduled for this four day event. The conference will profile current and emerging trends, challenges and issues that are being faced by Hospitality and Tourism Industry Operators, providing a unique and rare intellectual experience to the participants from across the globe.


The highlight of this conference will be key note by Dr. Asad Mohsin, Director – Institute for Business Research, University of Waikato Management School, Hamilton, New Zealand, Dr. Therdchai (Ted) Choibamroong, Foundation Dean and Director, Centre of Integrated Tourism Management Studies, National School of Development Administration, Bangkok, Thailand, Dr, Sandeep Kulshreshtha, Nodal Officer and Chairman – Academics, Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management, Gwalior, M.P., India, Dr. Maharaj Vijay Reddy, School of Tourism, Bournemouth University, UK and Dr. Swarup Sinha, Principal, ITC Hospitality Management Institute, Gurgaon. Mr. Gour Kanjilal, Executive Director at Indian Association of Tour Operators, India, shall inaugurate the conference on February 12, 2014. During the conference, the vast topic of “Tourism Perspective and Marketing Strategies” will highlight Managing heritage cities for tourism, Analyzing Heritage Tourism Potentials, The Success Story of Gujarat Tourism and Niche Tourism: Contribution of Festivals and Events to Destination Development amongst other research papers. The use of social media in the promotion of leisure destination, Promotion of tourism in Himachal Pradesh through Culture and Quality Management Systems in the Hospitality Industry are a few papers that will cover “Marketing Management in Tourism and Hotel Operations” broadly. Promotion of Pilgrims Tourism, Destination branding as a marketing tool for developing countries- A comparative analysis between India & Spain; Green Marketing and its effect on the Destination Image are some of the papers in the category “Destination Development & Promotion in Tourism”. The impact of cultural attractions and amenities in building image of a tourist destination, Product Development, positioning, branding and Management, Ikebana of marketing strategies to fit the Indian market, A Special Emphasis on CRM to elevate the level of Hospitality and Tourism in DELHI AND NCT will be deliberated in the session “Marketing Issues in Tourism Products & Services”. The session focusing on “Hotel Operations and Management” covering the topics related to hospitality, will have papers such as Develop Guest-Host Relationship Strategies in Hospitality Industry, Hotel Web-Sites Exhibits Effective Sales and Marketing Techniques for Branding and Positioning of the Hotel Product, Emerging Role of ICT in Hotel Operations, to quote a few. Food Service Management track would have some papers like A Study on Reducing Food Wastage by Commercial Caterers , Ethicurean - A Study on Ethical Food Trend, Opportunities and Risks; Emerging Healthy Food Options Offered By The Hotel Industry; Gastronomy Tourism and Destination Image Formation. Papers emphasizing on Human Resource Management: Issues & Challenges would be Strategic Training and Development Programme –A Step towards Motivating and Retaining Middle Management Staff of Hotel Industry: A Case Study on Five Star Hotels of Delhi; E-Learning: An Emerging Trend to Strengthen Hospitality and Tourism Teaching-Learning Process; Socio-demographic profile of the hospitality supervisor in a changed South Africa labor force. All accepted papers will be published in a book named Advances in Hotel, Travel and Tourism Research: A Global Perspective (ISBN 978-81-920850-3-6). Selected papers on “Hotel & Tourism Marketing” shall be published in the annual Hospitality Management Journal – “Indian Journal of Applied Hospitality and Tourism Research” Vol. – 6 (ISSN 0975-4954).
