New Delhi, May 20, 2016: New Delhi’s colonial heart, Connaught Place has seen resurgence in recent time with a spate of options for dinners and shoppers alike spread across its iconic radial roads and arches. As the world’s fourth most expensive retail destination, Delhi’s most famous business and shopping district now gets its very first lifestyle destination – The Colonnade. Located within a unique catchment area that plays hosts to an eclectic footfall across tourists, business travellers, students from across four corners of the city, The Colonnade aims to eventually create a one stop destination offering the best of fashion, retail and dining experiences.

The Colonnade is being developed in two stages starting with an F&B concept space spread over 25,000 sq. ft which witnessed the launch of some of the best casual dining and easy dining options in the city. Already on board are an array of quick and casual dining options including Burger King, Punjabi by Nature, Keventers, Wanchai by Kylin, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Pita Pit and Fat Lulu’s, to name a few, within an ambience that pays tribute to the rich nostalgia of its historic location.

Separately, The Colonnade also sees some of the most exciting casual dining offerings of the city including The Permit Room, an all-new Mediterranean sports bar by the team behind Raasta; Pan-Asian treats by Mamagoto; the best brews at The Beer Cafe and an eclectic culinary experience at Café Delhi Heights. Whether it is business meetings, an evening with a special someone or a hangout spot with friends, The Colonnade welcomes all.

The Colonnade represents a new trend in mall retail as specialised hubs in smaller formats are taking centre stage. While malls and high-streets have been traditional locations for F&B outlets, a new breed of food-centric destinations is emerging keeping in view changing lifestyles and expectations of Indian consumers. The trend of food hubs especially in Delhi-NCR, additionally helps restaurants create specialised concepts with greater focus on the dining experience.

· F&B is one of the fastest growing segment in organized retail as dining out grows as a trend.

· India's quick service restaurant industry is currently pegged at around INR 6000 crore and is expected to grow 26% each year.

Commenting on the launch, Mr. Manav Deep Singh, Director, The Colonnade, said, “We wanted to give the people of Delhi a lifestyle experience like never before and there could have been a no better place than Connaught Place. A lot for renowned brands have been trying to enter Connaught Place for a while and they have been unsuccessful because of either high real estate costs or because of unavailability of space. The Colonnade is now a destination where we have created a mix of unique sought after restaurant brands and would also be doing the same with retail and more dining options in phase two. We aspire to create the ultimate lifestyle destination with live music, shopping, events, great food and a whole lot of fun activities around the year keeping in mind the heritage and history of its location.”

The second phase of development scheduled for later will further see select food and retail brands, come on board across an additional 30,000 sq. ft. for the ultimate shopping experience offering the best brands across occasions.

New Delhi, May 19, 2016: IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group), one of the world’s leading hotel companies announces that its InterContinental® Hotels & Resorts brand has sought the expertise of Fortune 500 Futurist, Faith Popcorn. The collaboration comes as the InterContinental brand celebrates 70 years of pioneering luxury travel and looks ahead to the next 70 years.

Looking at luxury travel trends of the future, Faith focused specifically on the guest experience, service, destinations as well as hotel design. She believes that Virtual Reality (VR) escapism and immersive brand experiences will shape service and guest experiences in the future of luxury travel:

§ Clanning Experiences: VR technology will enable real-time sharing of adventure and luxury among friends or family who are spread around the world. It will mean that guests and their loved ones can enjoy simulated adventures in real-time, whether it be a walk through the Serengeti or an ocean swim with extinct marine life.

§ Customised Wardrobes: Hotels will partner with fashion brands to sponsor guests’ in- room wardrobes, complete with 3D printed designer clothing. Wardrobes will be customised to suit personal taste based on online shopping habits, size and local weather conditions.

§ Fantasy Escapes: Luxury as we know it today will become so accessible that consumers will seek more extreme and un-attainable experiences. Hotels will provide guests with game-like environments for fantasy escapes, which could involve living out danger in a safe environment.

Described as “The Trend Oracle”, Faith Popcorn has worked with leading Fortune 500 companies to help them accurately predict consumer trends. With a documented 95% accuracy rate, InterContinental Hotels & Resorts teamed up with Faith as part of the brand’s ongoing commitment to remain at the forefront of luxury travel.

Futurist Faith Popcorn commented: “In envisioning with InterContinental Hotel & Resorts to mark their 70-year anniversary, we’ve forecast what the future holds for luxury travel. Consumers will be craving immersive experiences which will allow them to indulge in luxury in both a physical and a virtual sense. By harnessing Virtual Reality (VR) and the constant flow of personal likes, dislikes and bio-data, hotels will be able to provide guests with once- in-a-lifetime experiences seamlessly and spontaneously—or so it will seem.”

By 2086, as space itself becomes the ultimate luxury, VR will evolve interior design so that it can be tailored by guests, and luxury travel will offer access to never-before-explored locations and immersive experiences:

§ Building Down: With 70% of the world’s population set to be urban by 2050, the design and structure of luxury hotels will change dramatically with brands set to adopt new architectural solutions such as ‘building down’, to fit to the changing landscape.

§ Immersive Spaces: Guests will be able to design spaces specifically tailored to their personal aesthetics and needs. From customisable holographic wall art to fully adjustable interior design, guests will be treated to state of the art facilities to ensure maximum satisfaction and relaxation.

§ World Experience: Different wings or rooms in hotels will be created to offer guests a taste of cultural experiences from different corners of the world – from golden Caribbean beaches to white blanket ski slopes, all located in the same hotel.

In order to continue creating new experiences for guests that elevate the everyday, InterContinental Hotels & Resorts have teamed up with world famous interior designer specializing in luxury hotel design, Tara Bernerd, for the development of the brand’s new design philosophy.

Commenting on the future of luxury design in hotels Tara Bernerd said: “InterContinental Hotels & Resorts are constantly looking to evolve their interiors and aesthetic to make their properties more unique and luxurious for guests. Interior architecture and design play a very powerful part of a guest’s experience and I am delighted to be supporting InterContinental Hotels & Resorts on their new design philosophy that will hope to see them continue to push the boundaries of luxury travel into the future.”

Opened earlier this year to cater to the luxury travelers in India, InterContinental Chennai Mahabalipuram Resort represents the epitome of opulence that the brand stands for. Situated in a picturesque location overlooking the Bay of Bengal on East Coast Road, the resort displays state-of-the-art architecture and décor to add to the luxurious experience of a world-class accommodation.

Furthermore, InterContinental Hotel & Resorts is set to break new territory once again, with the development of the Songjiang Quarry Hotel in China. The hotel is set to be built in a 90m deep quarry outside of Shanghai. Boasting cascading waterfalls, extreme sport facilities such as bungee jumping and rock climbing, underwater bedrooms and cutting-edge conference facilities, it is set to be the greenest hotel ever built, with plans to power the luxury resort with geothermal and solar energy.

Simon Scoot, VP Global Brand Strategy at InterContinental Hotels & Resorts added: “Our collaboration with Faith Popcorn and partnership with Tara Bernerd further ensures the InterContinental brand remains at the forefront of luxury travel. Innovation and pioneering spirit is in the InterContinental brand’s DNA. Since the launch of the brand in 1946, followed by the opening of the first hotel in Belem, Brazil, InterContinental Hotels & Resorts opened the gateway to a whole new world of glamour and discovery for a jet-set generation. 70 years on, as global travel has transformed, the InterContinental brand has evolved and adapted with it.

With nine iconic openings in the last year including new hotels in London, Dubai, and Chennai, and the upcoming opening of InterContinental Beijing Sanlitun later this year, as well as the re-opening of the iconic InterContinental New York Barclay, the brand continues to build its luxury legacy.

Bengaluru, May 13, 2016: Luxury safari camp and lodge operator Elewana has opened a new luxury tented camp on the site of the former Loisaba Lodge. Located on a 600ft escarpment, every room in Loisaba Tented Camp enjoys spectacular views stretching across the Laikipia Plains to Mount Kenya. The 56,000 acre Loisaba Conservancy spans three eco-systems offering a variety of beautiful landscapes and incredible game viewing, including the opportunity to see the rare Northern species including reticulated giraffe and Grevy’s zebra and one of the best places in East Africa to see wild dog.

Elewana has been chosen by Loisaba Conservancy, with support from The Nature Conservancy (TNC), to partner with it in the development and management of its primary tourism assets in this critically important conservation area that has been recently secured by TNC for ongoing protection for the foreseeable future. The new camp is part of the Elewana Collection – a portfolio of fifteen properties spanning the highlights of East Africa's safari and beach offerings.

Loisaba Tented Camp comprises six stylish and extremely spacious ensuite tents (three double/three convertible twin/double), three family combinations each consisting of two ensuite tents with adjoining walkway. The Private Residence houses three ensuite tents (one family combination and one convertible tent) complemented with a private bar, dining area and infinity pool. Not least of all, the property will reflect Elewana and TNC’s commitment to the environment by limiting its ecological footprint wherever possible.

The bar and restaurant allow guests to absorb the incredible landscape whilst enjoying a sundowner or choosing from the small à la carte menu where the chef endeavours to source ingredients from a 50km radius  including fresh produce from the camp’s well stocked gardens. Typical dishes might include a duo of carrot and beetroot soup with basil oil and sour cream, or deep fried brie with cucumber and mango pickle followed by pea and lemon risotto with grilled baby leeks and poached egg, or crispy pork belly with roasted beets, glazed baby onions and whole grain mustard sauce.

Aside from game viewing the Loisaba Tented Camp enjoys two infinity pools (one for guests in the Private Residence) and a plethora of activities including bush walks, mountain biking, camel riding, lion tracking, horse riding (for experienced riders), fishing, local village excursions and the opportunity to spend a morning with the resident sniffer dogs, Warrior and Machine.

The new Loisaba Conservancy is the result of substantial support by The Nature Conservancy and the consequential transition in the ownership of the 56,000-acre wildlife conservancy and wilderness to the Loisaba Community Trust. TNC’s move to help secure the land ensures that the conservancy delivers vital benefits and support for neighbouring communities, the wildlife, and all Kenyans for the foreseeable future. It also ensures Loisaba’s role as a critical sanctuary and corridor for elephants and other wildlife long into the future, as well as providing refuge for one of Kenya’s most stable lion populations and an abundance of other wildlife including Grevy’s zebra, wild dogs, leopard and cheetah.

Loisaba represents the single largest conservation investment in East Africa in 2014/15 and was born from a partnership between The Nature Conservancy, Space for Giants and The Northern Rangelands Trust. In recognition that responsible tourism is vital to long-term conservation, a third of the investment will contribute to tourism infrastructure.

Commenting on the partnership, Karim Wissanji, Elewana’s CEO, said, “The partnership with The Nature Conservancy highlights Elewana's passion and commitment to conservation, one that is reflected in its support (financial and otherwise) for this exciting new project; a project that sits at the very heart of TNC's community, wildlife and land conservation philosophies and their important collaboration with tourism."
