New Delhi, August 19, 2017: Banarsidas Chandiwala Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology, in an effort to inculcate eco-friendly practices for the new students of batch 2017-21, conducted Tree Plantation as one of the main activities at Induction on 1st of August, 2017. Saplings were planted by first year students along with their mentor faculty in different areas in and around college campus. Every group shall nurture and look after their sapling for the next few years of their college life. BCIHMCT has set an example to other colleges in India in having a green start to a new academic session. It is true that the youth of India have the capability to bring in positive change in the society and all they need is proper guidance and encouragement. Considering the zeal of the college students it can be rightly said that the future of our country is in safe hands.
The induction took place at college auditorium where all the students and the faculty members were present. In his welcome address, Dr.Bhupesh Kumar, Director, BCIHMCT, shared anecdotes of students’ experiences on joining hotel management in general. He explained how a hotel management student’s life is exciting and disciplined at the same time and different from other undergraduate courses. A small presentation on faculty details, curriculum, time-table was also conducted. Mr.Ranjan Bannerjee, General Manager, Crowne Plaza New Delhi Okhla was the Chief Guest at the ceremony where he too interacted with the budding hoteliers elucidating them about the glamour, flamboyance and fun work culture of the hotel industry. He informed the students that it’s the attitude that is mainly responsible for a successful career in the industry. The grit of person to continue without quitting is responsible for success in life. Mr.Rashabh Tandon, Manager Human Resource and Training was also present to interact with the new entrants of the hotel industry.
A gala lunch was served to the students to mark the occasion. The induction program shall continue over another week to ensure smooth transition of students into Hotel Management life and culture wherein they will watch interact with industry experts, faculty members and watch informative videos.
