New Delhi, August 01, 2018: In a career spanning over two decades, Abanti Gupta has earned herself a name in the field of Operations and Human Resources. Armed with a degree in Hotel Management from the Kamla Nehru Polytechnic, Hyderabad, Abanti was a star performer since her college days where she was awarded the Shankerji Gold Medal for topping across the state of Andhra Pradesh.

Abanti kickstarted her career in 1990, when she joined Gateway Hotel, Banjara Hills, Hyderabad in the capacity of Assistant Banquet Sales Executive. Following her 2-year stint, she moved on to Total Design Group, Hyderabad as a Media Co- Ordinator. Since the year 2000, she served in various positions in different Hotel Management Institutes across Hyderabad, till later in 2004, she shifted to Goa, and joined the Goa Marriott Resort as Training Executive. She was responsible for managing the orientation and induction of new trainees alongside supervising the core training programs and chase regional training initiatives. Soon after, she climbed up the ladder to become the Assistant Manager Training till 2006.

During her tenure as Training Manager at Hyderabad Marriott in 2006, Abanti spearheaded the core training programs of the property. Alongside liaising with Hotel Management institutes for industry exposure and campus recruitment, she oversaw community involvement via Marriott’s ‘Spirit to Serve our Communities’ program and developed the training requirement of associates.
In 2008, she served in the capacity of Human Resource Manager at Hyderabad Marriott Hotel Convention Centre & Courtyard by Marriott, Hyderabad. With two properties under her administration, Abanti was responsible for recruitment and man power planning, overseeing the maintenance of associate relations, supervising the management of the payroll process, training & development, disciplinary and statutory compliances. Her sheer determination towards her work bagged her the Manager of the Month award. Subsequently, she was selected for the Marriott International Human Resource Development Program from Asia Pacific Region which she successfully completed in 2008.

Moving on in 2010, she joined Courtyard by Marriott Pune, Hinjewadi in the role of Human Resource Manager and successfully led the department. Abanti ensured successful annual engagement scores for the hotel by planning employee activities, oversaw recruitment of key management positions and non-management hiring, administered the delivery of management and non-management training and skillfully handled disciplinary challenges with associates alongside advising department heads on disciplinary issues.

Following her tenure in Pune, in 2013 Abanti shifted back for another stint in Goa at Goa Marriott Resort and Spa as Director of Human Resources, where her key responsibility areas involved productivity planning, manpower tracking and analyzing and streamlining hierarchy. Abanti has received the Asia Pacific HR Leadership Excellence Award and Asia Pacific HR Leadership in Talent Development Award by Marriott International in the year 2012 and 2014 respectively.

In May 2016, Abanti joined JW Marriott Kolkata as the Director of Human Resources. She was a member of the pre- opening committee, where she was involved in the pre-opening planning of resources, associate facilities, mass recruitment and pre-opening productivity planning. In her current role, she is in-charge of managing annual wage cost-budgeting and addresses employee counselling concerns. She also ensures that the attrition levels at the property are in check and regularly updates the General Manager of developments, situations handled and other department related activities.
